Planning Ahead

I'm not one to leave things to the last minute but even I think that I might have gone a bit far this time, not only have I booked some accommodation for New Year's Eve in Sydney but I have now also booked the first flight up there.   Logically I guess I should have waited to see if there were any deals closer to the date, but I also wanted to have the pick of the flights, so I thought I get in there and get one.   Still holding off on getting the return as there is a chance that one of my mates will be over from London and he would like to see Tasmania after Sydney.

The only thing to tell me where to go

StreetPilot® i3 This little marvel certainly has proved it's worth many a time, but since updating the software on it, it has difficulty locking on to the satellites. I've reset it hoping that will improve the situation, but I think it must be something to do with the update. Would be interesting to hear if other people are having the same problem. It would be nice to have the option of picking an australian voice, I'm using the british one at the moment - it's a bit like having the super-nanny telling you were to go - as yet it hasn't told me my behaviour is unacceptable! NB - see later posting technorati tags: Streetpilot , i3 , Garmin , GPS

Statue of Robin Hood - Nottingham UK

Statue of Robin Hood - Nottingham UK Originally uploaded by PD Blog Pics . The legendary figure of Robin Hood, whose story is forever linked to Nottingham and it's castle. This statue stands in the shadow of the castle walls, but today there is a manor house of the site once occupied by the castle. The last remaining castle builds were destroyed after the English Civil War.

Good Friday 2007 - Shrine of Remembrance - Melbourne Australia Originally uploaded by PD Blog Pics . The Shrine of Remembrance is an imposing war memorial built on one of the main routes into the city and for it's roof there is a excellent view of the south of the city centre.

Good Friday 2007 - Shrine of Remembrance - Melbourne Australia Originally uploaded by PD Blog Pics . There has been excellent weather this Easter holiday in Melbourne and on Good Friday, I went to the Shrine of Remembrance, hoping to climb to the roof. Unfortunately the building wasn't open, but in the end that didn't matter.

Trip Back

29/03 Today was a long one, since it's now 31/03 and I haven't had a proper nights sleep inbetween Friday I took a short trip to Stratford, mainly to check my Oyster card and to get something to eat. I booked a black cab and it arrived a few minutes early. The journey was going very well until we got close to King's Cross, where there was a lane or two out of action. It cost £55, which is roughly what I thought it would. I got on a rather full Heathrow Express and made my way to Terminal 3. The check in's for EVA were already open when I got there, but I wasn't able to secure emergency exit sits between Taipei and Brisbane. The flight out was delayed by the late arrival of the inbound flight. 30/03 The flight to Bangkok went rather smoothly, although I got less sleep than I hoped. Again the flight from there was delayed, due to our late arrival. On this leg, I will try to stay awake. Didn't feel that good by the time I got to Taipei and didn't really hav...
