EEE PC - converted to the dark side

Having suffered the frustration of trying to get to grips with Linux (or more precisely the version that is loaded on Asus EEE PC's) I made the decision to convert my machine over the XP. The process was remarkably painless and its also as though Asus are expecting people to do it (they even give the instructions and drivers in the box). Honestly, it was the best decision I could have made for the EEE - the benefit of having the larger SSD harddrive means I've still got over half of it to play with for programs and there are an abundance of stuff out there that will run very nicely on the resources available in the EEE PC. Everything is now nicely set up for my to take the machine on the road and will no doubt blog in from Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Amsterdam and London in due course.

ASUS | Eee PC - My new traveling companion

I have recently purchased a black version of the Eee PC 701 SD shown above. Initial thoughts are its ok, but not outstanding. Keyboard is more difficult to get used to than I expected and I find the version of Linux on the machine irritating. So I will be looking at transferring the operating system to something more familiar and I am going to load XP on to the machine, once I have all the necessary bits in place. Will write more once I have changed it over to Windows. Blogged with the Flock Browser
