One day at a time

Faced a difficult decision today whether to go ahead with the car purchase and whether to trade in my current car. The additional pain of trying to fight to dealer and save $1000 was not for me, the only consolation is that I am getting a decent trade in value. Not 100% comfortable with my decision. I want a new car but I dud not originally want to spend this much of getting one. Hopefully I only have to suffer in the short term to enjoy something better in the long run.

Spent the afternoon with my friend Sox out on the bay coast line and after a nice lunch drove around a little more. Stopped off at a Fantastic Furniture store to have a look at what they had. Had a call from the Volkswagen dealer in Melbourne, to be informed that they were not going to hold the trade-in value on my Swift and they wanted another $1000 to make up the difference.

Decided against going to the Gold Coast by public transport, but did come across a few options for next time I am up this way. Spent a couple of hours wandering around the Roma Street Parklands and had lunch there too, Came back into the city and realised how close Roma Street was to Central Station, Had a quiet night in watching my usual favourite programs although I feel like I have eaten too much.

Woke up early and discovered the air conditioning had gone off during the night. Went shopping and wandered around the city botanical garden. Spent the afternoon in and around the hotel. Had a quick night in although chatted to a few guys online. Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

Flew up to Brisbane on Tiger Airways. No issues although their terminal could do with a few more facilities and more security screening. Arrived slightly ahead of schedule and got quickly on way to the city on the airtrain. Met up with Doug and Sox for dinner and had nice Indian meal. Had a drink at the Sportsman's bar before returning to the hotel. Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

Still carrying a lot of emotional baggage. Been thinking about an event that happened the first time I went to University and how I was deliberately left out of an event. I realised that it still bothered me after all these years. I need to learn to let go.

The Production Company Went to see a performance on the Boy from Oz by the Production Company at the Art Centre in Melbourne. I didn't know the story of Peter Allen before going, but had heard that the musical was about his life. I enjoyed the show and recognised a great number of the musical numbers that virtually all Peter Allen's own work.

Today started well, enjoyed a stroll around the neighbourhood, got my hair cut and did a little shopping. But after lunch I felt I incredibly tied and after resting up I'm aching and sweaty. Doesn't look promising!

Not into making resolutions as I don’t tend to keep them, but have noticed a few things that I need to work on over the next 12 month. I’m not keeping my weight down and not using the gym as much as I could. This is doubly troubling when you realise how much I am paying to be a member of a gym that I don’t use. I have a couple of big purchases happening this year with a new car and new apartment all planned for 2011. With the apartment comes the need to furnish it, this is exciting but the down side is no overseas trip for me this year. The long weekends away that I have enjoyed and have planned for the early part of the new year will have to be put on hold once I have a mortgage to service. The old problem of lack of quantity of quality friendships is a continual worry and when I move, there won’t be the flatmate around to interact with. I will be living alone for the first time since I moved to Australia and in fact it will be the first time since the early 90’s.
