Nottingham

Wednesday, first trip into the city centre. Took the bus with my parents, but left them when it got into town. Bought very little, but got my steps up for the Corporate Global Challenge.

Nottingham

Tuesday, took parents for a drive to a local gardening centre, where we had lunch and bought a few rose bushes.

Nottingham

Monday, shopping at Morrisons and petrol. Highlight was catching up with a mate from London at the Unicorn Hotel.

Nottingham

Today was telling family lunch, partly to celebrate my mother's 88 birthday and for me to catch up with my family. We went to a pub on the banks of the River Trent, unfortunately most of Nottingham seemed to have had the same idea. The meal was okay, if the food took a while to arrive. I enjoyed the drive, even though we went slightly the wrong way.

Nottingham

Friday spent the day catching up with my sisters. Started off looking for a cheap 3G tablet, but couldn't find one. Then went to see Pauline before going to see the youngest addition to the family, Georgia. Also dropped in to see Janice on the way back to my parents' home.

NOTTINGHAM

Arrived at my parents yesterday evening and they were both delighted to see me. The drive up was long, nearly three hours, but most of it was on motorway. Today I have been to the local shops and bought a few more things for my trip. Might drive a little further tomorrow and go into the city centre.

Aberdeen

After a very bumpy trip up on the sleeper service, we arrived early Monday morning in impressive Aberdeen. The city lives up to its Granite City name, the buildings here are very impressive. We had breakfast at a Witherspoon near our Travelodge before moving on to the tourist information centre. We went round the Provost Skeens house and then around the wintergardens in the south of the city.

KENNINGTON

Had lunch with Graham in his apartment in Kennington and then spent some quality time in Brixton.

Oxford

Took myself off to Oxford for the day. The train trip to Oxford was only marred by two couples of loud proper lovies. The Oxford buildings were very impressive but didn't go inside the colleges. The trip back was painful and long, so long that I had a headache when I finally got back to the hotel.

Kensington Palace

Went out with Graham to see Kensington Palace. It was interesting and many impressive rooms, although some of the installations were out of place to my mind. One aspect that struck me was how Princess Diana has been relegated to a same side room.

Stratford

Moved into Stratford Premier Inn, although finding it wasn't easy. Nice room but no view of the stadium. Did a little shopping, but couldn't buy much as there isn't a fridge. I've got the Westfield shopping centre to explore yet. I called my UK friends and hope to catch up with them soon. Had a bath and had a quiet night in the hotel room.

Jersey

Had a lovely time with my nephew and his family over the last few days in Jersey. The weather was dry for most of the time and the sun even came out occasionally. We went to the Underground Hospital, which is now a museum of the Jersey occupation by Germany, during WWII and when around the Jersey capital.

UK 2012

It's a been a long trip, but it all went smoothly. Well almost all! Got the bus times wrong so was rushed to start with and forgot to put on a belt. At the other end, the Heathrow Connect service only runs once a hour, so had to wait at Heathrow Central and then had problems contacting Graham. Now in bed at the Tunes hotel, got upgraded to a room with a window. Looking forward to sleep!

One more sleep

Last day at work for a month. Tomorrow another journey commences. Can't say excited, more anguish about the trip, will relax when I get there.

Car done

Got a call this afternoon to say the car had been done. Let's hope there's no more issues with the repair.

Second Attempt

Just dropped the car off to have the previous repair repaired. Better be ready Friday morning, otherwise they will be holding on to the car for a month.

Perils of ebay

Recently sold my old android tablet on ebay. Didn't hear anything for a while and then the purchaser contacted me to tell me the tablet had stopped working. I've tried to be helpful, even sent a second charger in case it helped. Apparently nothing will charge the tablet and now his emails are inferring that it must have been opened, which is untrue and that it was damaged, which is also untrue. Told him I can't help any further.
