Week 10 Isolation

Beginning to feel more comfortable at home, but not had much motivation to go out, limited shopping to a couple of trips and otherwise have stayed indoors. No exercise, walks or exercise bands, it's not something I'm interested in doing. The garage door has been wrecked and will need to be replaced, unfortunately that could take two weeks to happen, and I don't know if the work order has been sent by our corporate manager. But we my have had a good outcome from the cladding hearing, although we have to deal with the Other Matters (whatever they were). Not visiting my relatives this weekend, it is someone else's turn this weekend. I have spoken to her and she was happy on the phone. Chatted to my sisters and father back in the UK and the rules are beginning to be relaxed there too, with people allowed to meet up outside. Been treating the cat for an ear infection and he definitely does not like to treatment, one day he hid under the bed rather than get his treatment. He ...

Week 9 - Isolation

The restrictions continue to be relaxed with more coming on the 1st June, including restaurants opening but only for limited number of customers. Work is plodding along. My old team had formal virtual after work drinks on Friday and I put on a formal shirt and bow tie, it was fun. Next week is ultra casual clothing. There was a group meeting this week and the hot question was the name of the group, some in my team (the vocal one) doesn't believe that there should be a name change even though the group name makes no reference to two thirds of the group. No one liked my suggestion, but then it was a bit long. I went to see my Aunty and she was in good form, enjoyed the lunch I prepared and discovered that the chest freezer in the kitchen had burnt out, so unplugged that before it set fire to anything. There was also mood in the toilet from a wet towel she keeps there, to collect the rain, there has to be a better way to ventilate the toilet. I had brunch with friends at there home, o...

Week 8 Isolation

The big difference this week to all the other weeks is that there has been a relaxation of some of the rules in Victoria, basically people are now able to visit other people in groups up to 5. These came into effect at midnight Tuesday, so I took Wednesday off work to go and visit my aunty. She enjoyed the company and I was able to do some shopping and banking for her. The price of petrol is very low in some parts and was under a dollar at some petrol stations, unfortunately I had a full tank so I wasn't able to take advantage of the low price. I picked up one of the sets of pyjamas that I purchased for my aunt so I can send it back as they were way too big II didn't think she was a 16 but that what she said she was!). It's going to cost $12 top send them back so not sure it's worth it. I received a letter from the council to say they intend to issue a planning application for the apartment block in front of me and that the objectors have 30 days to appeal. Strangely th...

Isolation - week 7

Nothing really changes one week to the next. Hopefully there will be some good news next week with the relaxation of some of the measures but I expect Victoria will lag behind the rest of the states and territories in lifting its restrictions. Work has been okay, although I wasn't a very happy bunny on Friday and didn't stick around for the virtual drinks at the end of the day. A joint decision not to visit my aunty this weekend, but will need to go down soon so she can sign her tax return and I can pick up the cheques and bills that she needs dealing with. The weather this week has been a mixed bag, some nice spells mixed in with some terribly wet and cold spells. Unfortunately when it has been nice, I haven't been able or willing to go out in it so I haven't ventured far from the apartment this week. Waiting on one delivery of clothing from Rivers, everything else has been delivered including the pyjamas to my aunt, but they turned out to be too late, not real...

Week 6 - Isolation

The week didn't start very well when the planning application for another apartment block in front of mine was approved by the council with out any real discussion. Of course I paniced and started looking where I could move immediately. I have since cared down but since I saw who was obviously the developers standing outside the site on Friday, they are clearer not wasting any time. Work has been okay, the templates I devised for the funding requests and the register have been circulated around the department for comments and they will hopefully go live on Moday. I'm still waiting for one thing that I ordered online, deliveries by Australia Post have certainly been delayed recently. But they appear to be working on Sunday as something I ordered for my aunt turned up today. My aunt has burnt something in the microwave oven again, hopefully this time the oven doesn't need to be replaced, like the last one. Hopefully things might begin to return to something approaching normal ...
