Eurovision - Who should have won

Image
Ani Lorak - Eurovision.tv The Eurovision Song Contest was a mixture of joy and disappointment. The joy was the great number of fine performances and great show produced by the hosts - Serbia in Belgrade. The disappointment was the eventual winner, when far better songs (in my opinion) were neglected. At least two of my favourites finished second and third in the final competition. Eurovision Song Contest - Belgrade 2008

Image
Home | Eurovision Song Contest - Belgrade 2008 It's that time of year when good taste goes out the window and Europe comes out fighting for the honour to host the biggest live entertainment production outside the Olympics. Serbia won the opportunity to host this year's competition (I wonder when they realised they actually had to produce three shows!!) For the first time, one only the winner and the big four contributors to the competition gained automatic entry into the final. Everyone else (all 38 competitors) had to qualify through two semi final rounds. The final line up has now been decided and the final will be held in a few hours. Unfortunately for the rest of the world ( and especially those on the other side of it) we have to wait until for it to be repeated at a more social hour - the question is can I avoid finding out who wins! Voice Over

Taken the initial steps into VOIP (voice over internet) and getting mixed results - yes it saves money especially on national calls, but the quality leaves a lot be desired - one advantage with the mob that I have gone with is that they offer a application to run on my mobile phone so I can take the VOIP everywhere that I go (as long as I can get G3 access). Waiting to see the bill from my mobile operator to see if they try and charge me for the data that I have been using on the VOIP service even though I have a data package.

Apple - MacBook

Apple - MacBook New toy, well in fact a replacement for a old one ibook that is really getting to the end of its useful life. Doesn't mean I'm not sad that I have to replace it, funny how you can get attached to inaminiate objects. Blogged with Flock

More Troubles

Got back from my trip home to find my 84 year old uncle had fallen over in the shower and broken his arm. To matters worse, he was way up near Broken Hill when it happened. By the time I arrived back in the country he was already home and I have been to see him and my aunt. Although tied and in some pain, he was in good spirits and my aunt appears to be coping. Will be keeping an eye on them for a while.

Story of the trip home

Saturday 15 March No doubt the longest Saturday of my life and one where I had so little sleep that I'm probably lucky I got back home in one piece. Had the emergency exit for the first flight, but didn't help at all. This time I was physically sick on the flight to London. Sunday 16 March Got a good night sleep and after breakfast , I drove down to Tescos to get some money and lunch. Picked up a pasta and shaving things. Got mum to try some pasta with meatballs. Arranged to pick up one sister, Pauline on the way to the hospital and to have dinner at my other sister's, Janice. Dad looked in good shape to say what he had been through and was more worried about mum than himself. Gave Aunty Buster a call too. I must be tried, got emotional over a skating competition ! Monday 17 March More shopping, this time Argos and Lidels (which appears identical to Aldi). Bought a kettle to replace the one that was virtually falling apart. Went to see Dad with Janice & she directed me...
