Button Perfect - Coraline

I went to see the 3D version of the animated version of Coraline. It was enjoyable and an amusing tale. The 3D effect was very cleverly used and didn't get in the way of the story, plus there was none of the usual tricks of objects flying at the audience. It is not a story that I would suggest taking very young children to, unless you want them to be scared of buttons for a very long time. I also have my own set of 3D glasses, which remain me of the glasses that Morecombe & Wise and the Two Ronnies used to wear - very National Health!

Moving District 9

Went to see the movie "District 9" and it was amazing, for a science fiction story, it was very believable. Setting the main action in South Africa and the parallels with recent history for the majoring of the black population in that country can't be ignored. It's a very violent story, but in a graphic comic way, so exploding bodies is less disturbing than I thought it would be. The most difficult part is watching the mistreatment of the lead human by the establishment and how he is treated as a piece of meat by other humans. This is a movie well worth seeing even if you don't normally like science fiction movies.

Missing Harry

Unfortunately looks like I'm going to miss the latest Harry Potter movie at the cinema. Usually go with a good friend, but he went to see it with other friends, disappointing that he didn't consider how that would effect me, but then that's life. No intention of going to see the movie on my own and the likelihood that it won't be around for much longer, movies don't stay on the main screens for long these days. No doubt I will see the movie one day and it gives me a perfect excuse to buy it on Blu-ray when it finally comes out.

Nokia E63 & Ovi

Had the E63 for a couple of week now and the shine has definitely begun to rub off this particular gadget.   The phone itself functions adequately and I like having the full keyboard to type SMS and enter details into the phone. What I am less impressed with it the applications.   Nokia has a very long way to go if they hope their OVI store is to compare with the Apple App store. The reality of using this application and the lack of really useful applications in the store is something of a waste of time.   The first time that I sync'd my new phone with the details that I had previously stored on OVI from my old phone, wiped out all the new information and replaced it with out of date information - well done OVI ! (not)   I have done loaded and installed a couple of applications from OVI, none of which have actually worked properly on my E63, so you won't be surprised to hear that they are no longer on the phone.   I am disappointed by my experience wit...

New Phone - Nokia E63

Image
File:NOKIA E63.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I have upgraded one of my phones to the Nokia E63 and my initial reaction has been very positive. The full keyboard is handy, but it does take a while to get used to, having been used to typing on a numeric keyboard. The phone uses Symbian as it's operating system and there are lots of applications out there written for it. Already have mapping, navigation, wifi finding and emailing applications up and running.
