30/12 Sunday Got up reasonably early to get the tram and train over to the airport to meet Graham. Even though he got through Customs quickly, I still had a long wait before he appeared. Took a taxi back to the hotel, although the driver didn't know where it was. Went over to Darling Harbour to get something to eat and then we walked through the centre (did a spot of shopping) and then went over to Circular Quay. Got a ferry back from there to Darling Harbour, although Graham was falling asleep. Decided on a simple evening, went food shopping and looked at potential spot to see the fireworks tomorrow evening. Brought some food back and had dinner in the room.

New Year 2008

Saturday 29/12 Spent the morning filling time, waiting for Craig to get up. I did realise that I had forgotten to pack a few things this morning and was able to add them. I was worried when I was hit by a bout of gastro but thankfully by the time we set off, that had settled down. I didn't have to queue too long at check-in and decided to take advantage of the lounge pass I had added to my velocity card. It was worth the expense - with a help yourself food bar and foxtel to watch. I easily filled in the 30 minutes before my plane was due to board. Got an emergency exit seat, so had plenty of space and the flight had the headrest displays, but with only an hour to fill, I decided not to waste $5 on it. Took the train and tram (they grow them big up here) - didn't know where to look to avoid catching the eyes of the handsome hunks wandering the streets (I'm sure they get used to it here!) Took a while to find the entrance of the hotel, but after a bit of a struggle with the d...

De Bortoli Wines Pty Limited ... Australian Winemakers Since 1928: The Restaurant

Image
De Bortoli Wines Pty Limited ... Australian Winemakers Since 1928 The office Christmas party was held at the restaurant of the De Bortoli Winery on Monday 10th December. It was a great success and the only complaint I've heard was that it didn't go on for long enough. Most people went up to the Yarra Valley in buses hired for the day, but I drove up as I volunteered to take the staff award prizes along. I relied on my GPS to guide me there and on the way up, it took me through the country side to the venue, it was a very pleasant drive up. On the way back I changed the setting to make it take me via the quickest route and it took me along all the main roads - this took longer than the scenic route up to the winery! Blogged with Flock

Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical - Well worth the wait!!

Image
Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical - The Show Finally got to see Priscilla the Musical and it was well worth the wait. I was crying with laughter throughout the show. The musical has been kept true to the movie, but the performances, numbers and costumes are simple stunning. I enjoyed it so much I think I will have to go and see it again - it was that good.
