Gold Coast Trip 2008
Everything was going so smoothly until we reached the hotel. After changing rooms twice, we ended up in the original room that we were first allocated, minus the second bed, but with a dinner voucher and bottle of wine.
Flight up here was unremarkable, or should that be remarkable that it a left on time and actually arrived early.
Once again my plan to test drive a possible replacement for the Swift was derailed by the hire car company giving us a free upgrade. Once again I've got an enormous car for just to two of us!
Went to Main Beach (Sufers Paradise) for dinner and to collect a few essentials. Settled on italian for dinner and had an unusual pizza. Found a easy place to park, problem is that I don't know how big this car.
Watched some TV before settling in for sleep, at least I had the proper bed. Campbell is on the sofa bed.
Sunday
Discovered that the booking was only for one night, so we went back to the reception and tried to sorted this out. While we were having breakfast, they arranged for another room to be made available and that breakfast would be free for the time we stay. Left our luggage at the reception, while we went out to Springbrook and the Natural Bridge.
Went for several walks while out in the national parks around Springbrook. The natural bridge was very interesting and well set out. Took a lot of pictures. Then went to several of the lookouts around Springbrook, but the look outs weren't as impressive as the natural bridge.
On the drive back we stopped off at one of the shopping retail parks and I bought a cover for my new GPS. Campbell bought a pair of speakers for his iPhone and they work remarkable well. USB powered they coming with a battery pack, but it doesn't provide enough power to charge the iPhone in an emergency.
Had dinner at the hotel and although the service was a bit on the slow side, the food was nice. Got back in time to see most of the Dancing with Stars. I called home briefly, they are going to call me tomorrow.
Monday
Got a call from my parents this morning at breakfast to wish me a happy birthday and I have received SMS's from Paul, Graham, Craig, Marna and Petra during the day.
Spent most of the day at the Harbour Town depot shopping centre and watching Campbell spend money, actually was a nice way to spend the day. I bought some stuff too, I hope that we won't be over loaded for the flight back tomorrow.
Went to QDeck at Q1 in the evening, wasn't really enjoying it. I think Campbell had a better day than I did although I think I generally feel a little down at the end of my birthday comes along.
Began to watch a special on TV about the Bermuda Triangle but it was getting late and not particularly interesting so went to sleep.
