Australia Holiday 2009 - Perth 13 Jan 2009

Tuesday 13 January 2009
Spent the day re-arranging some of my items between the two bags, since it was going to be a hot day in Melbourne, I didn't want to have to wear the long trouser. Craig thankfully took me to the airport and dropped me off just before 3pm when the checkin for my flight was due to open. I joined the small queue that was already formed and was pleased to see our scales were as accurate as the airlines – I was well within my luggage limit.Worried that I had packed a aerosol in my luggage, turned out I had left that at home and had a couple of hours to fill. Managed to avoid the temptation of doughnuts but not muffin and coffee. After a long stroll to the airplane, the emergency alleys were full, but looking at the rest of the seating on the plane, I'm glad that I got the extra leg room and my fellow travellers kept to themselves.
I entertained myself once we were up in the air with my Epc and the video files that I had brought along. I enjoyed the Doctor episode, even if it was predictable, although the explanation for the next doctor was very clever. I should avoid watching any flight disaster documentaries before flying myself in future, at one point of the flight I was convinced that we were going to fall suddenly, there had been some turbulences on the way out of Melbourne and we hit some more on the approach to Perth. My flight left on time and arrived on time, after collecting my bag I went in search of the Quantas terminal, which wasn't very far away and they already had the number displayed for Graham's flight on the baggage carousal. I sat down to wait, his flight was due in ahead of schedule.
Nearer the time of Graham's arrival I went to wait in the Qantas arrivals area and watch all his fellow passengers wander passed me. Finally he appeared and it was great to see him again – hardy changed from the last time I'd seen him, nearly 10 months ago. After picking up his baggage, we took our seats on the shuttle bus to Perth and our hotel.
It was a short drive to reach Perth and it wasn't long before we had reached the Travelodge. The Travelodge had provided exactly what they said they would, a twin room, although there was one queen bed and one single. I took the single, mainly since I'm going to have a queen in Sydney. Dinner was in the hotel restaurant, it was easier than wandering the streets of Perth trying to find somewhere to eat and I enjoyed my meal even if it was a little over priced and the wine had certainly had hit the spot – well half a bottle will do that to me.
