Daylesford 2010 – Saturday 6 March
The drive from Melbourne to Daylesford was more of an adventure than usual, as I relied on my GPS and this took us via Woodend and down some narrow country roads. It proved to be trustworthy, as it delivered us to the door of the motel.
We are in one of the family rooms (i.e. it has one double and two singles), comfortable enough. Soon after we arrived the heaven’s opened and the street was literately awash with water. There was some hale thrown in for good measure too. Needless to say we stayed a while in the hotel room until the worst of the downpour had passed,
Drove through the main street of Daylesford, that was very busy and after filling up on expensive petrol, we drove down to Hepburn Springs. We made a brief stop at the “BBQ” lunch at Peppers and decided that neither of us were that hungry or willing to pay $20 for what was on offer.
We drove back to Daylesford and wandered the main street. Campbell bumped into a couple of people that he knew from Melbourne and after coffee and potato cakes, we did a little spot of food shopping before returning to the hotel for an afternoon nap.
After a short break and shower, we drove over to Sault and had a lovely meal (if expensive). Enjoyed the main course of rack of lamb and Campbell had breast of chicken, unfortunately I couldn’t finish the dessert made up of three different chocolate desserts.
Drove back through the rain and blinded by several drivers coming the other way who failed to dip their lights, but made it back safely in the end.
