Back in Brunswick

Had a lovely time in Daylesford with Neil and his friends. After stopping off for breakfast in Daylesford, we drove to Hanging Rock, before returning to Melbourne. Went to Costco for my first time and was staggered by the size of the place and the their wares. Bought a replacement DECT phone and a large quantity of Quakers Oats.

Hepburn Springs

Relaxing in the cottage while the rest are out getting massages. Went wine and cider tasting yesterday, after a lunch at the Wombat Hill CafƩ. Today, I think it will be much the same once the rest return from their treatments.

Daylesford weekend away

Ended up driving up to Daylesford to spend the weekend with Neil and his friends, have a very nice time and of course eating too much (and wrong stuff). Hope I don't pay for it again tomorrow.

Sydney for the Harbour Party Februrary 2013

Going to Sydney in February with my friend Neil to the Harbour Party. I had problems finding suitable accommodation, most of the twin rooms had already gone in the better hotels. Ended up trying one on Pitt Street, the reviews indicate that the rooms will be small, but at least they have twin rooms left.

Christmas come and gone

After two busy days with family events, its nice to relax and have some time to myself. Not wasting it though, after a late breakfast, I've washed the tiled floor and vacuumed the carpet. Plus on my second load of washing. Now just want to find some fun to do this afternoon, maybe gym or catching up with mates, or both depending on timing. Had a nice Christmas and Boxing days, although Christmas was exhausting and I turned in early. Boxing Day at one of my second cousin's places was fun and relaxing, not too many people and the kids are of the age when they can entertain themselves.

So this is Christmas

Really an anti-climax feeling today, worked until about 3.30pm then came back to the apartment, via the supermarket. Now at a loss end, I could clean the flat or do some washing, but is that really the best I can think of doing on Christmas Eve - apparently it is!!

Work has hit a new low

Not for me personally, but the management of the department has told seven executive assistants that they are surplus to requirements. It looks like they have taken the opportunity to get rid of people that don't fit in with the more senior EA's and informing them a week before Christmas that essentially they won't have a job early in the new year is disappointing. This hasn't been run in tamdam with the departure packages and its no surprise the ones that have been "targetted" for redeployment. There are ways of making and delivering tough decisions and this isn't one of them.

Keyboard - can you see where they got their idea from??

Testing out the new bluetooth keyboard

This seems to be a very responsive keyboard and although the construction is a little on the cheap side, it does the job of a much more expensive version well enough. Kogan strikes again, I woner how long this will last since my other Kogan purchases have been less than 100% reliable over their lives.

Sydney December 2012

Had dinner with my UK mate Graham last night at Peter Doyle's Circular Quay restaurant. View was amazing with the Opera House and Bridge, the food was okay, but the service was sloppy and unprofessional. I'd h ave expected better based on the prices charged for the meals and wine. It was the most expensive meal we'd had while Graham was here.

Sydney December 2012

Turned into the usual trip to Sydney, frustrating! Met up with Anthony and Graham yesterday, but no Joe. Should be seeing Frank & Graham today. Will wander down to Darling Harbour too.

Flight

Sydney to see Graham

At the airport waiting for my flight to Sydney to catch up with Graham and others (?) over the weekend. Lined up a nice meal on Sunday with Graham at the revolving restaurant.
