Week 62 - Circuit Breaker

Here we are again, lock down!! Although it has a new name - Circuit Breaker! 7 days across the whole state of Victoria, so back to working at home and not going out further than 5 km for shopping. It is disappointing, although not surprising that we have gone back to another lockdown. After spending a day in the office having to wear a mask, stay at home is much more preferable and I am glad that I don't have to use public transport at the moment. I will be taking a care package to my elderly aunt to make sure she is okay during the lock down (sorry I mean circuit break!). Work is remarkably slow at the moment, in a normal year I would have been in the UK by now and I usually take around a month off work, but at the moment, it looks like even my trip to Hobart later this month is in doubt, depending on what Tasmania does when the lock down (circuit break) is lifted. There is no point going down there if we are required to quarantine for longer than the planned break. We've had ...

Weeks 58 & 59

It's strange how quickly life returns to "normal". I am now regularly working three days in the office and two at home. The commute is still relatively pleasant with few on the trains in the morning, although the evening trains are more like they used to be. I have been feeling miserable again, but I think that is due to work and the changes that keep happening with the product that I am working on, and the timetable that expects people to work over the weekends, it's basically built into it. I don't like it when I am not given time to finalise my work to the degree that I am satisfied with. I have to just get things done and hope they are acceptable. I did weaken and made a totally impulsive purchase of another smart watch, this one is supposed to have NFC payments via Google but I am yet to see it work and the battery life has not been very impressive but I have only just started using it so maybe it will improve. The Eurovision Song Contest kicks off soon but t...

Week 50 - Almost normal

We are moving more towards normal (or at least the new version of normal), with the vaccinations started (slowly) and zero community transition of corona-virus reported. I had a shorter working week than normal, as I extended an already long weekend with also taking Friday off, but in the end, it was wasted as I was hit by yet another bout of diarrhoea (which has been happening frequently recently). The weekend has proved to be a busy one with a trip to my elderly relative (including lunch) and then high tea with my best friend on the following day. I am looking forward to having some quiet time on Monday. My working week will commence with working in the office and I also have an interview lined up during the week for the radio programme. Work has been frustrating because I have basically been in an holding pattern, going through the motions waiting to hear when things need to be done by, whilst also trying to get other areas to feed their information. It's not greatly satisfying...

PED

I'm in post Eurovision depression. I'll get over it eventually but it's still all I'm really thinking about at the moment.

Jess did us proud

I'm disappointed by the result but not the effort put in by Jessica Mauboy, she has thrown herself into the madness that is Eurovision and has come out over side demonstrating what humanity should be about, respect and understanding. Well done Jess!

Israel won Eurovision 2018

As predicted Israel won the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest. Australia came 20th and sadly got the lowest popular vote 😩

Don't mind who wins

As far as I am concerned everyone in the 2018 Eurovision Grand Final is already a winner and I don't mind who takes the trophy in the end. It amazes me how Jessica Mauboy manages to fill the stage on her own, she is a star.

Australia 🇦🇺 in Grand Final

Jessica has qualified for the 2018 Eurovision Grand Final, well done!

Eurovision show

Got the interview and started to edit it down to three segments. There's more than we need which is better than the alternative.

All 43 entries for this year's Eurovision Song Contest have now been released and fingers crossed for Jessica to qualify from semi final two.

Watching old eurovision

The 60th Eurovision held in Austria has the best opening of a grand final. Still enjoy watching it.

Jessica Mauboy representing Australia

Miss Jessica Mauboy will be the representative for Australia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon Portugal.

Jessica is back!

Well done Isabella

Isabella Clarke came third at Junior Eurovision which is Australia's best result and on a performance she can be very proud of.

Junior Eurovision

Junior Eurovision isn't being shown here live, but it would be at 2am so that's understandable but also won't be able to vote.

Eurovision 2017 Winner

Portugal came out on top the morning, taking top marks from both the jury and televoters. Disappointed that the UK didn't do better but they were no where near last place and Australia finished in the top 10.

Eurovision in full swing

Did the first of two specials on Eurovision on Tuesday and got another interview lined up for Sunday morning.
