Week 25 - Isolation

This weekend was supposed to be the final one in Stage 4, but it has been extended for two more weeks. However there are a few lightening of restrictions expected shortly, including longer time to exercise and the creation of social bubbles, which hopefully means I can see my aunt more often.

The number of infections continue to drop, although the death rate has not fallen as much (but then it was never as high as the infection rate). Still no sign of the state or country opening up, even with calls from the country's prime minister to premiers has not had any impact.I think the premiers of Western Australia and Queensland should take note of how to display empathy for those families that are suffering and showing some sympathy for the pain they are causing, it is not a sign of weakness but of compassion (Just think what would Jacinta do?)

Work is lost a lot of meaning at the moment, we are still pushing forward with the State's financial statements and also kicked off the collection of information for the budget, but in the current environment it's all a little meaningless, but it keeps me employed.

One of friends has decided to pack in his job, it's probably the right thing to do for him, because he has not been happy in the job for sometime now, but the timing is difficult with lock down still in place and alternative sources of income limited. It's a shame because he enjoyed the work, but not the environment that he was working in. He enjoys helping people with their computer problems and if he could find a job that did just that, he would be happy.

Total lack of motivation to do any exercise recently, I haven't even been for a walk every now and then. In fact the only times I have been out of the apartment is to go shopping or to pick up deliveries. I have been doing a spot of online shopping and bought a new sleep tracker and a new digital radio, which have both arrived.

The masks that I ordered have also finally arrived although they are not that impressive. They are comfortable and don't cause my glasses to fog up, but they don't stop much as they are very thin.

Oscar (the cat) has been very demanding and the head shaking has returned so I can only assume that his ears are infected again, although they do not appear to be red inside. Once lock down is eased, I will take him back to the vets to see how bad his ears are.
