Week 29 - Lock Down
Still no hint of when this will end and the novelty has definitely worn off now. I don't leave the apartment much at all, a couple shopping trips and maybe a couple of walks around the neighbourhood are the only reasons that I leave here. It's depressing when I think about how little interaction I have with other people at the moment (although at the moment, that's probably the safest thing to do).
Work isn't really helping my mood, I don't like working where there is a total lack of structure (or probably in this case, the structure hasn't been shared with me!). I think I am finally over the romance with my old team, there are only a couple of people left in there that I like and I can only be betrayed so many times before I learn my lesson (I'm a slow learner emotionally).
I have been in touch with my family in the UK and my dad is convinced that they will be put under another lock down, as they are experiencing increasing numbers of infections. On top of that, my older sister is trying to sort out my dad's bank accounts following the closure of one and the opening of a new one. Both my dad and aunt have unrealistic ideas of what banks will do and who organises the shifting of payments. Needless to say it has turned into a mess, my aunt's issues took over a year to fully sort out (she didn't even notice that her husband's pension wasn't being paid), hopefully my dad's accounts and pensions will take less time to sort out.
I've been talking to my cousin about the home care package offered to my aunt, the whole process is far too complicated (I get that the Government is trying to give people choice, but when there are over 100 providers to pick from and no way to sort them, it only makes the situation worse). We have agreed that we think it would be a good idea for my aunt to take up the home care package and have selected a provider (based on the fact my aunt already has dealings with this provider).
In addition, I think my aunt is due another pension from Canada, coming from the contributions that her husband made, but again that means filling in another form, with all the information available and already held by the Canadian Government, why they can't work this out themselves is beyond me (and clearly beyond them too).
I ordered a new modem which I hope will improve the performance of my internet, although I am a bit dubious about the people I ordered it from as they were offering the modem for a lot less than anyone else. I'm wondering if its either a scam (they don't have it) or an import (not Australian stock), but I will have to wait and see. The reviews for the company I used are mixed, some people love them and some people hate them and they are about equal numbers of each side.
