Sydney trip - 30 October 2011

Had breakfast at the hotel and then took my baggage down to reception to get a new room, but the room won't be ready until later on. So I went shopping at the Broadway shopping centre. One success was getting an international call package added to my phone account. I also bought a pair of shorts and a shirt for the theatre this evening. The new room is a great improvement over the first room, nice big bed and comfortable sofa. Unpacked and got ready for the Mary Poppins. The stage version of Mary Poppins was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. At the end Mary flys over the audience and right over my seat. Posted via Blogaway

Trip to Sydney - Saturday 29 October

Drove down to Avalon airport about 1pm, after dealing with some issues at home. The airport is in the middle of a big field and there is no distinction between long & short stay parking. Tried to get a boarding pass a couple of times using the voucher sent to my phone but it needed human intervention in the end to produce one. The plane did leave on time & the flight didn't feel any longer. It took a while to get to the hotel, with problems on the trains & when I arrived there were only twin rooms available. Unusual for me I made a fuss about it & will move tomorrow. I had a quiet evening, as I felt very tied, but I did chat to Alex via SMS about catching up. Posted via Blogaway

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

There can be only one way to describe the stage version of Mary Poppins.

Cranlana Experience

Just completed the most unusual leadership course, that makes everyone attending consider what are the factors that make for an ethical and just society. The week has been challenging mentally and ethically, by making me personally challenge the way I perceive justice and the effects of my actions.

Settlement Day

After a worrying few days, making sure everything was in place for settlement, in the end it came down to a voicemail message to say it had all gone through.

Displaying Stress

When I suffer from stress, my face breaks out in spots and areas of dry skin. At the moment it is particularly bad and painful. Plus it's not difficult to locate the source, the fear of having to read aloud and getting the ducks lined up for settlement on Friday.

Love Never Dies (apart from on stage)

Just been to see the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. Fans of the original will be very disappointed. It's the usual tale of hideous beast loses the girl only to have her turn up again ten years later with husband and son in tow. It's not that difficult to see where this ship is sailing. The music was pleasant but not particularly memorable, whilst the set and costumes were outstanding. It looks amazing, shame about the storyline, lyrics and music.

Timing is the killer

Sounds like its going to difficult to get all the ducks in line in time for settlement on 28 October. At least I'll get to see inside the place on Friday & hopefully get my ANZ transaction account set up.

Settlement

My settlement date is 28 October. I'm scheduled to fly out to Sydney on 29th. Still need the bank to view the property and provide their valuation, before they can agree the mortgage. There is also the question of the deposit bond, which is apparently returned to me. If everything goes to plan, I'll move in sometime in November.

Awkward silences

I bumped into a friend yesterday and although I was happy to see them, I could think what to say. I think I was just so surprised to see them.

Still waiting

I am still waiting to hear from the agent that they have received the title deeds back and the purchasers can proceed with finalising finance for the apartments. Apparently this isn't the usual practice & only leaves 14 days to settle. Posted via Blogaway

Lunch at Josephs

Had a entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable lunch at Joseph restaurant at the Mansion hotel in Werribee. Excellent food and outstanding service, the only fault was a minor mistake on the bill, which was quickly corrected.

Changes at work

The search for the new leader of the division has been announced and not surprisingly it is an outsider. The announcement didn't go smoothly, instead of telling the division first, we got to hear at the same time as the rest of the department. Not the best move to encourage an improvement in the business culture. Just another example of the leadership saying one thing but doing something completely different. Posted via Blogaway

RIP Steve Jobs - Sad day for Apple fans

Sorry to hear the news of Steve Jobs passing. Using one of the products that he launch to post this and have been a fan of Apple products, since my first clam shell iBook (which I still have).

Back to reality

Drove back and found no change in the apartment. No sign of Craig, although I did find a card from him with a gift inside. No gym, but did some shopping at Coles. Still no real contact. The only human contact I can rely on is work, how depressing.

Fun day & quiet night

My usual pattern. Had fun today, wandering around Warrnambool shopping centre and bought a few thinks, cheap of course. Had to endure the excitement of fellow hotel guests who were watching the Grand Final in their rooms. It's been a nice change and had some lovely if cold weather down here. Drive back tomorrow, but need to fill up with fuel first.

First night

Didn't sleep very well. I was very jumpy and concerned about every little noise. Woke up with a headache, but thankfully that has now subsided and it looks like it might be a sunny day (for the moment).
