Not according to plan

Today started off well, in that I did the chores I had planned to do, including entering the ballot for passes to the ANZAC celebrations in 2015. The day went off track for a while, until the afternoon. I finally went out to Sydney Road, but I ended up only spending at Woolworth on food. Visited the gym in the evening and spoken to Pauline too. Posted via Blogaway

Brunch on Sunday

After brunch with the guys, I went shopping in the CBD. Bought a couple of shirts but didn't stay long. Took a tram back to the car, I was surprised that the centre wasn't busier.  Didn't do much in the afternoon. Baked some bread and called my parents, were the only key points.

Gym so it must be Saturday

I'm losing track of the days, worked out that today must be Saturday. More active today with shopping and gym both included today. Ordered a stand and case for the new phone, which are both on their way here. The Windows Phone isn't quite there yet, still some holes in the infrastructure and missing apps common to both iOS and Android. Worrying that they appear to have no vetting on the apps on the market. Discovered a flaw in the ANZ Web banking, nearly paid for two things twice because the items were listed in reverse date order.

Taking it way too easy

Today was very relaxed, probably a little too much. I didn't venture outside the apartment at all even though it was a nice day. Disappointed that I didn't make better use of the day. Tried to sort out Kylie's tablets, but not sure if they are both used by the kids, or just one of them.

Family gathering

Today was Boxing Day with the Waites family. Did a spot of shopping before driving over. Tried the GPS apps in my new phone, not the best experience but it got me there and back. Ate very well again and had a nice time, enjoyed helping one if my second cousins build lego model. Talked to my folks on Skype which fell over again, but it was good to see them. Painful Christmas

Today was very nice apart from the migraine headache that hit after I got home from the Christmas lunch. I could feel it coming on as I drove home, thankfully it didn't hit until later. Only just feeling normal now, 5 hours later.

Christmas morning

No surprises at the foot of my bed, oh well I guess I must have been naughty again.

Working week has finished on Tuesday

Went into work this morning but finished at 2.30 pm today. Took the train with Ange after wishing everyone around the office a merry Christmas. Spent the rest of the day preparing the car, doing a little shopping and playing on the computer. Still setting up my latest addition and was working on the photos from the Christmas event.

New Mobile

Image
I have purchased a Windows Phone, but not a Nokia one. I've got hold of the HTC 8X and like what I have found so far. It's feels more grown up than my Android phones.

Exchanged cards

Had brunch with the guys and exchanged Christmas cards. Was a fun lunch although the car park was extremely busy by the time I left. Didn't do much else, was very lazy and didn't even go shopping. Will probably postpone the radio course, so I can go over to the UK at Easter time.

Going well so far

Things seem to be going well between me and the new Paul. Fingers crossed, it continues likewise in the new year.

One less social events to go

The main department Christmas was held today and I hope everyone that attended enjoyed the event. The weather was near perfect, warm but hazey, it stayed dry and it attracted over 300 attendees.

Leadership show

I was one of the invitees to the leadership meeting, which appears to be the Jane and Joe show. It was interesting, but why does Jane have to turn everything into a production, literally on some occasions. Used my new iron and happy with it, need to work out what is the best temperature to have it on. My new purchase is on its way, I'm hoping it will get here before Christmas.

Can't resist a bargain!

I'm having buyers regret. I ordered a Windows phone this morning mainly because it was on sale! Truth be told I have been interested in getting a Windows phone for some time and I found one that was also 4G (LTE). So I rather foolishly rushed in and ordered it, without thinking much about it. I guess I can always sell it on eBay if I'm not impressed and I have spend similar amounts on other fun things. I hope that I get it before Christmas otherwise I'll have to make a special trip into the city.

Change announced

Its been announced that I will be changing teams in the new year and not sure if I have made the right decision, but then I guess that's the usual feeling with a change, there's going to be some uncertainty. Another change but smaller impact was my replacement iron. I was look to purchase one from Target, but their selection was pretty poor. I bought one from BigW and it works.

Hindsight is better than nothing

I went to another Christmas lunch and checked in on Facebook, but had second thoughts about leaving it there. Never quite sure who can see my posts , even if we are paying for them all ourselves. I went back to the office after the lunch to try to finish the report on the VDP and TSPs. Unfortunately it doesn't quite add up, a bit like forecast for some of the employee expenditure. Will have to review them both in the morning. Received a card from Janice today, which must have been sent before Benji passed away.

Day of highs and lows

Day started well, had a very nice time with Paul and we're catching up again next Saturday. Unfortunately my weight isn't such a good news story. It's steadily increasing and heading in definitely the wrong direction. Some sad news from my parents, my sister's dog had died. This would be very upsetting for her, as he has been her companion for over 10 years. Posted via Blogaway

Change maybe in my future

One of my colleagues is moving on and I expressed an interest in her position, to have a change in my role. I had a chat with the areas manager and a move is possible, depending on the out come of some negotiations involving another staff member on secondment. The prospect of change is exciting and scary at the same time, plus I don't know how that would effect my current team. Will have to wait and see what happens, but in the meantime I have updated my CV, just in case it's needed.

Free contact lenses

I have ordered new contact lenses but they have been out on back order. So l have been given trial packs for free. I've got two sets so far.

Still having fun with my free gift

The cover arrived for  my pendo and after checking out several alternative launchers, I found one that would rotate the screen and maintain the icons. Its become my TV guide, alternative TV remote and iTunes remote as well.

Not quite a silk purse just yet

Maybe true of a sow's ear, but the pendo is proving to be useful. I've replaced the launcher, by doing so have stopped its nasty habit of  losing apps when rotating the screen. I've added a app to control my iTunes, turning this free gift into a useful addition.

Got a new gadget

I was surprised to receive an unwanted gift from one of my work colleagues, a 7 inch android tablet. It may be only a Pendo, but it does what I want it to do. I can control the television and even schedule my computer to record from it. I'm having fun with it so far.

Perils of the elderly using technology

My father has successfully mastered turning on the tablet and knows which picture to press to start Skype. Until it just stopped working.  I guess he had accidentally turned on airplane mode, when he had previously turned the device off. Unfortunately he had no idea and was proposing to take it back to the shop to see if they could fix it.  At least he should now know to recognise the little airplane symbol if it appears again.

Changing times

I have been keeping a diary for almost 30 years, and I'm going to keep recording what has happened in my life but the way is about to change. I'm going to stop writing down my thoughts and instead post them to my blog. Posted via Blogaway

Social day at work

Today was a bit different from the usual, I had to run a social event this morning and it was exhausting. Got up early so I could drive in and take the shopping in. Drive in was fine but may have an issue with the drive back, not sure if I cross against a red light. There was a poor turn out by the department so there was lots of food left over and this was divided up across the department. Would be interested to find out what else we can do to encourage people if free food is no longer enticing to them. Did mean that I wasn't concentrating that much in the morning.
