Belle Zain

There is always a problem when a favourite place changes hands. This is particularly true of restaurants and one of my favourite ones has changed and not entire for the better. I had one of my best birthday dinners there, but that was several years ago and a different owner ago. The food wasn't appalling, but not very appealing either. One good point was the coffees which were apparently very good, not be being a coffee expert I couldn't really tell. The service was attentive if inexperienced. Still he managed to get both the order and bill correct. The interior hadn't changed significantly but the atmosphere had gone. Posted via Blogaway Posted via Blogaway

Change

Thought about the blog after the planning day, will go back to adding things when I have something to say rather than every day. Will aim to contribute more often, I guess I will have to do more interesting things in the future. Posted via Blogaway

Friday 29 July

Full day away away from the office at the Melbourne Park Function Centre at the tennis centre. There were major last minutes changes to the agenda, but seemed to run smoothly. Interesting video from YouTube and how  important social media is becoming. Posted via Blogaway

Thursday 28 July

Went to see the final Harry Potter movie, already knew the ending (I had read the book). Enjoyed it, especially in Gold Class with a reclining seats and a glass of wine. Not sure what the 3D added. Not coping well at work, still haven't paid much attention to the new budgets. Today the hot issue was tomorrow's planning day.

Wednesday 27 July

Met up with Peter after work, worried about the planning day, that's something has been forgotten but can't think what! Posted via Blogaway

Monday 25 July

Over my head at work trying to work on the planning day, reporting for directors' meetings and supplying commentaries. The reporting has fallen behind schedule and I haven't paid enough attention to the budgets. Having next Monday off to have a short break from work.

Saturday 23rd July

Started well - organised my wardrobe and collected tax papers. Installed an upgrade on another Mac, but didn't feel like going very far. Posted via Blogaway

Friday 22nd July

Had a great nice evening with my friend Campbell in the city centre. After a Mexican meal and a couple drinks, so Campbell bought the ultimate boys toy - iPhone controlled helicopter!! Posted via Blogaway

Wednesday 20th July

Very stressful day, felt near to tears this morning. Things just seem to be getting on top of my lately. Had a very nice lunch with my colleagues, but can't get over how bullies get awarded in the department. Had dinner with Anthony at the Italian restaurant on Malvern St. Nice food and good service. Tuesday 19th July

Decided to drop the Virgin Mobile service and replace it with a new service from Savvytel. The calls and SMS should be far cheaper on the new service. Get again I didn't go to the gym, I have a mental block about going on early in the week, although I did have very bad heartburn. Got an email from Graham and he liked the card. He expects to be here later this year. Posted via Blogaway

Monday 18th July

Very confusing day at work. Finished everything I had listed on my to-do list, but still feel like I've forgotten something. Felt very strange by the end of the day, but better now. Posted via Blogaway

Sunday 17th July

Usual Sunday - brunch, gym and TV. The only difference today was no ironing, but waiting for the new shirts to dry. Saw my friend John at the gym and went shopping afterwards as usual. Posted via Blogaway

Saturday 17 July

Lazy start to the day and didn't really get going until nearing lunch time. Did dome shopping, but didn't go to the places I was originally thinking about. Spent just over $100 on four shirts from Myer and caught up with Andrew in the evening.

Friday 15th July

Big news at work, the main boss has resigned and is going to join KPMG. He's leaving in August and there will be a recruitment process to replace him eventually. Spent last night at the department trivia night and was a member of the winning team. Posted via Blogaway

Thursday 14th July

Went to a work trivia evening and the team I was on won. I'm not sure if I was a help or hindrance but with way we managed to be the other tables. Posted via Blogaway

Wednesday 13 July

No longer acting. Can concentrate on the financial issues facing the divisions. Have a disturbing matter involving business travel to Sydney and where that is appropriate when other divisions are dealing with large cuts. Should the savings start at the top?

Tuesday 12th July

One of those days when nothing gets finished.  Made progress, but couldn't finish the major items. I did prepare a few notes for my previous manager's return.  Went shopping instead of going to the gym. Will go tomorrow as I will be at the trivia night on Thursday.  Chatted with Phil from Sydney, he's a lawyer and has managed to drop about 30 kg. Posted via Blogaway

Monday 11 July

Got overwhelmed at work this morning. There was so many things to do and couldn't decide which one to concentrate on. Working my way through the items on my to-do list, but important that I prepare something for Vanda's return. Caught up with Campbell and we had dinner. He came back here for a cuppa and looked at the plans for my new place.

Sunday 10th July

Lunch with the guys at the Coffee Club. Terry has bought a new car, i45. I went to the gym and shopping in the afternoon. No Downton Abbey today,  but watched my usual programmes instead. Posted via Blogaway

Had a very nice (if expensive) lunch at the Merrick General Store. Traveled down with my cousin Avan,  who was staying with my other cousin's place. Posted via Blogaway

Friday 8th July

Had a couple of panics today trying to get the year end finished. Been very lazy this evening, lazing on the sofa, watching the "So You Think You Can Dance" finale. Posted via Blogaway

Thursday 7th July

Work is going to smoothly, there has to be some issues on the horizon. Happy with the way the end of year is progressing. Didn't you to the gym this evening, not in the right mood.  In fact haven't been in the right mood for much at all. Disappointed at the responses I have been getting online, general over it all. Wednesday 6th July

Had dinner with my mate David up near Essendon Airport. We had Italian and it was very filling. Work was pretty full on, with the completion of the end of year details. Still need to send parts in,  but hopefully most has been captured. Posted via Blogaway

Tuesday 5th July

Took picture at work at lunch time. Shows new hair cut and facial stumble. Not enjoying this evening, planned meeting didn't happen, he didn't even remember our arrangements.  Over it all at the moment.  Posted via Blogaway

Monday 4th July

Not feeling so good, don't know if it's the beer or something else.  Had a dull day at work, spent most of it trying to fill in my performance plan. Met Matt another lecturef,  this time from Deakin University in Geelong.  Posted via Blogaway

Sunday 3rd July

Had brunch with Paul and there was a surprise for me for who else was there. Got in a session at the gym. Downton Abbey is just getting better and better each episode. Posted via Blogaway

Saturday 2 July

Had a lazy day. Got my hair cut was the highlight of the day. Watched "The boy in striped pyjamas" which is an outstanding and moving movie.

Friday 1 July

Got the revised date of settlement confirmed as sometime in October. Work went down hill suddenly when I think I deleted one of my email folders. I restored what was in the trash folder, but don't know if I've got it all back. That's going to haunt my weekend.
